Calculating Quantity of Tiles You Will Need
Step One: Estimate how many tiles cover per square meter (m2)
Step Two: Calculate the total size of your roof
Step three: Multiply the total size of your roof by the number of tiles covered in a meter squared (Roof Area (m²) × Tiles per m² = Total Number of Tiles)
Step Four: Add an additional 5-10% for any waste or breakage which may occur.
Sample Cost Calculation
Let’s say you choose clay tiles at around £1 per tile and with each meter squared it contains 15 tiles per (m2)
- 60m² × 15 tiles = 900 tiles needed
- Add a 5–10% buffer for breakages and cuts: 45–90 extra tiles
- Total tiles: 945–990 (Multiplied by the cost per tile)
- Estimated cost: £945–£990
Additional Information
This information only gives you the total cost of tiles for your roof, you will also need to take into consideration cost of labour and other materials required which can add an additional £1,000 depending on the quote.
Which leads to a total cost of around £1,900 including the tiles.
