Green Credentials
At Cawarden we are passionate about the environment. Many millions of tonnes of fossil fuels are used in the annual production of new building materials, substantially contributing to ‘Global warming’.
When you use reclaimed materials from Cawarden, you are not only getting a great look, but also helping to reduce the use of these precious resources and the damage they inflict on the atmosphere.
To help our customers to reduce their “road miles”, we offer a “shuttle service” from Rugeley Trent Valley station (which is on the West Coast Mainline) to Cawarden (less than 1 mile from the station). Every “green” initiative we have introduced has not only beneficial to the environment but has also delivered either savings to the business or improved the service to our customers. Cawarden demonstrates that with good planning, innovative thinking and a ”can do” approach, good environmental practice can be of major benefit to any company.
Wherever possible, our packaging is either recycled or from sustainable sources. Examples of this include the paper bags used in our showroom, which as well as being biodegradable are also made from recycled paper.
All wooden pallets used to store and transport our materials are “once used”, thus extending their life.
All “waste” produced on site is carefully segregated and sent for recycling with less than 1% going to landfill.
A substantial investment was made during 2011 to enable the whole of the sites’ heating requirements to be provided by the burning of recycled wood, thus substantially reducing our carbon footprint.
