What are reclaimed bricks?
Reclaimed bricks are bricks that have previously been used in old buildings and structures. These salvaged bricks are removed, cleaned and reused in restoration or renovation projects, new constructions or house extensions.

How are reclaimed bricks cleaned and prepared for reuse?
Each recycled brick is processed by hand in our yard. The process is:
- Washed to remove old mortar
- Quality checked for damage
- Left to air dry

Certification is available upon request – The governing body we use is NSCA. The testing process would be a moisture test and a progressive strength test. How do I maintain reclaimed brickwork?
Reclaimed bricks do not require maintenance although some customers choose to seal them with a sealer. By sealing the second hand bricks this can help with water resistance, especially in wet or particularly cold climates. What’s the Difference Between Wirecut, Handmade and Pressed Bricks?
The differences are:
Wirecut Bricks
- Made by cutting clay with wires after it’s pushed through a mould by hand.
- Smooth, straight and uniform finish.
- Versatile have a lot of character, but their uniformity makes them easy to work with.
Handmade Bricks
- Oldest form of brick making.
- Made using clay which is shaped by hand in moulds.
- Rustic, uneven finish with lots of character – each brick is unique.
- Perfect for period homes, fireplaces, or anywhere you would like a traditional, aged look.
Pressed Bricks
- Made using clay which is pressed into moulds and compressed down by a machine.
- Neater look and finish than a handmade brick.
- Normally have a frog mark bearing the maker’s name.
- Ideal for Victorian homes, outdoor walls and general building use as pressed bricks are a lot harder than handmade bricks.
- Normally used for engineering purposes such as foundations and supporting walls.
